Daventry based racehorse breeder and trainer Paul Mason has been declared bankrupt by Northampton County Court. Although his trainer’s licence was only granted in February 2009, Mr Mason is well known within the industry. At the end of 2009, he owned or had interests in a number of horses including the distinguished stud High Chaparral. The bankruptcy, based on a Pettition by Doncaster Bloodstock Sales, means that Mr Mason must now cease trading and will be subject to an investigation of his dealings by the Official Receiver and his Trustee in bankruptcy. Neil Marshman of Wellingborough based insolvency practitioners, Marshman Price, has been appointed as Mr Mason’s Trustee. Mr Marshman said “At this very early stage we are collecting information about Mr Mason’s assets and liabilities with a view to determining the overall position – I cannot however comment at this stage on what bloodstock remains with Mr Mason. What I can confirm is, whilst Mr Mason was in partnership, it is only Mr Mason that has been declared bankrupt. The case also involves outstanding litigation issues which will need to be resolved and the welfare of any remaining bloodstock is being treated as a priority.” Mr Mason was officially appointed bankrupt on 11th August 2010. |
